L. Spearman grew up in North Houston, Texas. She was an accomplished artist through high school, winning many awards for painting, drawing, sculpture, and graphic arts. She later found a passion for photography as a dance school owner, while watching other photographers take recital photos for her students. As an artist, she wanted to improve their photos, so she bought a professional camera in 2010 to give it a go. From there the business grew rapidly and a photo studio was built into the dance school. Thousands of photos were taken between then and now of the dancers, their siblings, their friends, professionals, models, couples, babies, weddings, and more. In 2016, Laney & Brian closed Pendragon Dance & Photo Studios to be free to travel for Brian's work.
Laney began to focus mainly on portrait photography, and she developed a love for the fine art, "painterly" style of posing and editing.
Laney and her family have traveled to many beautiful places, written a travel blog for parents, and even starred on House Hunters International. She brings her camera everywhere she goes.
She believes that photography is a window to the soul, and one of the most precious heirlooms you can leave behind in our world today. When you come in for a photo session, ask Laney to show you some of her restored family "heirlooms" from generations past!
